web standard

Frequently asked questions (FAQ) state "web standards is a general term for the formal specification and rules surrounding building web pages. “Web standards are formulated and maintained by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium ). There are standards for:
HTML: including XHTML, HTML4.0 and HTML5.0; CSS: including CSS1, CSS2 and CSS3.; XML: relating to specifications like RSS, XSLT, XPath, and XML Schemas.

Web standards are also a general term for the specific ground of people, who is disability. Such as visual impairment, hearing impairment, olfactory and gustatory impairment, etc. web standards compliance makes it easier for these people with special needs to use web.

The benefits of web standards as follow:
·  Accessibility

It is more easier for the search engines to display the web page, because of the information is more text matching with the search engines.
From the clients' point of view, it is much easier to understand the page structure through the web standards. The content of the web page is very clear and will be easy to find.
From the peoples', specially disability peoples' point of view, there are browsers been provided through the standards, it is more convenient for them to use the web, and disability people have the right to equal as others. Thus to provide the browsers are necessarily.

·  Stability

As we know, a web site will be redesigned through many designers, and each of them will have different perspective to design the web. The web standards offer a set or rules, so that content can be restyled easily without changing code.
- Provides print friendly versions for all pages.
- Easier to maintain, because of the less code and modular code.

Everything has two sides, web standards have disadvantages too. But in my own opinion, I think to compliment web standard is necessarily, especially for those disability people.

A memorable non-electronica days

Last monday I have received assignment about non-electronica, and the duration is three days. Firstly i feel very interesting and meaningful of this assignment. we not usually do this kind of event in China, which i think it is worth to have a try.

In the non-electronica duration you have to give up using mobile-phone, internet, and email, which I think it is piece of cake for me. However, when I actually taking action on this, the challenges have keep arising.

At monday afternoon, I went to Marshes and have food shopping. When I paying the bill, I take out my phone and make a phone call to taxi station as usual. Suddenly I remember the non-electronica stuff, therefore, i hang off the phone, and run to the telephone booth in the front of marshes, call for the taxi, and run back to dunnes. I should take off the battery of mobile phone, unfortunately i didn't. So in the evening time, the ''devil'' come to me again. One of my friend has called me, what can i do? I have to pretend didn't hearing the phone rang.

On the Tuesday, I took the battery out and leave the phone at home, so there is no mobile phone story anymore. However, that is not the end of the story. I went to college and one of my lecture asked me to print a note that she has emailed to me. At that moment, i felt how hard is to give up the electronic things. The best way I can do is ask one of my friends that is not in my class to do me a favor, print it for me. And at that stage I started missing internet life.

At the last day, because we finish this activity at the afternoon, so it isn't tough for me. The time flies, in the evening, I back to my usual life, which is so enjoyable.

This is really a good activity, and I think I will suggest my friend to have a try when i back to China.

My hometown - NanJing

Nanjing or “Ning” in abbreviation, the capital of Jiangsu Province of China, is a city with a history of 2,500 year, tracing back to the Warring States Period in the Chinese history.

The name of Nanjing in Chinese language refers to "Southern Capital", in comparison with "Northern Capital" of Beijing, China's current national capital. The city has served as the capital of China for ten Chinese dynasties and the Republic of China, and is listed as one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals amid Chinese cities. The ten dynasties includes: Wu Kingdom, Song, Qi, Liang, Cheng, Southern Tang, Ming, Taiping Kingdom and Republic of China.

In 1937, the darkest history of Nanjing, the Japanese army invaded and occupied Nanjing and carried out the systematic and brutal Nanking Massacre. The total death toll could not be confirmed, since no official records were kept, and has been often contested, but most estimates put the number of dead between 200,000 and 300,000. Today, the history still haunts the Sino-Japanese relation.

Nanjing has always been a national center of commerce, education, research, transportation and tourist in the East China region, preceded only by Shanghai. The flower emblematic of the city is Asian plum or "mei hua" and the city tree is deodar cedar.

comments on social media

In recent decades social media channel is growing into maturity. Almost every adult has a computer at home and spent more than one hour on the internet, not only off work but also during work time.

For my own I spent almost 40 hours on the internet during the whole week, and half time I spent on social media channel. This appearance is not only myself but also the friends around me.

social media firstly is a communication technique, it provides users a channel to share things with people and make friends with others. And the most interesting thing for my own opinion  it is more convenient to communicate with friends who is far away. sometimes it costs lots to make a phone call with friends who is at another country. after using social media, i will not miss any new from my friends who is not around me. This is makes me never give up this technique.

From the users' point of view, the reasons why they prefer social media are as following:

  • Direct communication and speed of feedback. User can communication a company through social media channel directly and will get feedback speedily, because company always hire 2 or 3 people working for this part of job, such as upload new information of company, communicate with target marketing and get marketing research, etc.
  • Get news fast, it is so convenient for company to publish news online, sometimes the event is just happened, and there is pictures or text about it on line after a while.

From the companies' point of view:

  • It is cheap to set up a media page, most media page are free.
  • Have a communicate with your customer, could familiar with what are your customer thinking.
  • Improve brand awareness, if the company is do well on media site, more followers are following your site, hence more people aware with your site.

Above are the briefing of social media benefit, this is not least benefits.
